the last couple of years have been huge for pomo, going from a relatively obscure canadian producer to releasing his debut ep on hw&w, remixing for the likes of janet jackson and mark ronson, and touring the globe with disclosure as their hand-picked opening act.
bastard jazz has commissioned pomo to be next in line for the fourth volume of their *tempo dreams* compilation albums, following on the heels of the hotly contested soul clap compiled vol. 3. as with other tempo dreams records, we tease it out with a limited 7 inch release with tracks from the compiler made specifically for the tempo dreams album.
*blue soda* (part 1) - pomos first original release since his ep in november of 2014 is a typical, rollicking pomo new disco joint with stabbing synths, chopped vocal samples and an irresistible bassline. part 2 on the flip-side delivers more of the same, with a little more of an introspective twist. part 2 is exclusive to the 7 inch only and wont be on the album.

* this is the seventh surgeon album.
* -while exploring new production techniques using old and unlikely hardware, the results were so unusual that i really had the sense that these pieces of equipment didn t actually create these sounds, rather they were in fact some kind of elaborate reception device that allowed me to tune into transmissions from distant galaxies. the music i could hear was actually the received transmissions of pop hits from those distant galaxies that were being played on their radio stations. i quickly recorded all that i could before losing the transmission.
* i consulted with dr andrew read, the astrophysicist with whom i recorded guitar treatments in 1999. he has worked on the discovery of the most distant galaxies and astronomical objects in the universe. together we came up with a possible list of where these musical transmissions may have come from.

grow label returns with its ninth offering, an ep of four choice original works, each a very deep and specific imagination alive with detail. the artist creator this time is plantae who offers his first vinyl ep and it is altogether a refreshingly original experience. plantaes tracks are characterised by momentous baselines underlying layer upon layer of organic texture and intricate primal percussion, which come together for a sound quite otherworldly. descriptive in nature and so filled with peculiarity *tigshameran* is an album and experience hard to grasp, but this is one of its charms, and its originality will keep you coming back, time and again discovering new moments of intrigue. a very respectable debut record from plantae!
